racist-motivated police violence against an African in Brandenburg

Press release on racist-motivated police violence against an African in Brandenburg by African/Black Community (ABC) in Germany

Berlin, 11.11.2019

Press release of the African/Black Community (ABC) in Germany

About the racist-motivated police violence against an African in Brandenburg:

On 04.11.2019 Mr. Lazare M. went to the payment desk of the social office (district Märkisch-Oderland) to get his benefits according to the asylum seeker law. The clerk arbitrarily cut his benefits with questionable statements. He asked the clerk to review her decision and was willing to find a compromise. Thereupon the clerk called the police to take Mr. Lazare M. out of the room/building. The police came, listened to the complaint from the person in charge and asked Mr. Lazare M. to leave the room.

It is the same procedure every time: The police come, listen to the complaint of the person in charge and lead the black people out without listening to their version. This happened only downstairs in the entrance area, but in the end this never led to a complaint against the racist clerk, Mr. Lazare M. reported afterward.

This time he did not want to take part in this racist harassment. He told the officials* several times that he only wanted to be heard before he left the room. He had put his arm through the pass-through opening of the safety glass and held on to the other side of the cash desk. Mr. Lazare M. tried to explain the situation from his point of view. The police officers* strictly refused to hear Mr. Lazare M.'s point of view and urged him to sign documents, which he refused.

A policeman began to count to three, then took out the car and beat Mr. Lazare M. with full physical exertion, who continued to hold his left hand to the other side of the counter. He was then beaten several times by several officers and thrown to the ground. The clerk "helped" the police to overwhelm Mr. Lazare M. by stabbing him with a ballpoint pen on his left hand from the other side. He fell to the ground and lost consciousness. When he woke up again, the policewomen* stood above him with their feet on his body.

He was taken to the hospital and only a blood sample was taken to check for drug or alcohol abuse. Again, this was done without his consent. A medical examination of his numerous injuries was not carried out.

The Brandenburger police had a press release published in which false statements were made for the public. The only fact is that he was neither under the influence of drugs nor alcohol.

The following day, Mr. Lazare M. had to be admitted to the hospital (Charité) again as an emergency because he was found unconscious at the station.

For the members of the African / Black Community, this incident is reminiscent of the Oury Jalloh case, which was murdered by Dessau police*.

According to the report of the investigation commission appointed by the initiative Oury Jalloh, he was first severely abused by the police and then burned under police custody in his cell.

Would the policemen have acted differently if it had been a white German?

For us, one thing is clear: this is a racist practice of the social welfare office and racist instruments of state power such as the police (-violence).

We members of the African / Black Community (ABC) demand the establishment of an independent commission to investigate the incident.
We call on all members of the African / Black Community (ABC) to become aware and alert and are very concerned about the increase in racist police violence against Africans.
We urge members of our communities to report incidents like this to us as soon as possible.
We call on the federal and state governments to take all measures to protect the members of the African / Black Community (ABC) from police violence and to fight efficiently against the racism against people of African origin / black people existing in German institutions in the sense of the International Decade for People of African Origin.

Police raid in Doberlug-Kirchhain refugee camp in Brandenburg.

Wed, 11/13/2019 - 22:30
Police raid in Doberlug-Kirchhain

On Wednesday 13 November 2019 a group of asylum-seekers living in refugee camp held a demo in front of the Foreigners Office outside their camp against nightly police raid in the camp to arrest people with Dublin cases and against the involuntary deportations outside Germany.

The protest started at 1:30 PM and took 1.5 hours. The protestors read their statement and shouted slogans against mass deportations and limitation on movement. The called for maximum participation of all refugees and asylum-seekers in claiming back their basic and fundamental rights to freedom of speech, freedom of movement and etc.

On Thursday 7 November 2013, a group of police officers raided the rooms in singles house of the camp checking all the ID cards late in the night and created an atmosphere of terror and stress among refugees. The protest on Wednesday showed solidarity with actions against police brutality and nightly raids on the residents of the refugee camp.

Statement and Call of Refugee Selforganisation in Brandenburg :
We, the exiled refugees and asylum-seekers living in Doberlug-Kirchhain Red Cross refugee camp, have fled war, destruction, dictatorship and economic difficulties in our homelands and asked for asylum in Germany. But our life has become more complicated in Germany since BAMF claims ultimate control over the asylum-seekers’ life and limits all sorts of movement.

Pressemitteilung der African/Black Community (ABC) in Deutschland

rassistisch motivierte Polizeigewalt

Berlin, 11.11.2019

Il y aura une présentation sur The VOICE refugee Grassroots activism and movements by friends and activists in the networks.

Murat Akgül, deported and fled back: Deportation to Turkey Terrorist, says Erdoğan

Sat, 11/02/2019 - 11:48
Murat Akgül

Deportation to Turkey Terrorist, says Erdoğan

A Kurd who grew up in Germany is deported to Turkey and flees back to Germany. Now he lives in an anchorage centre.

NÜRNBERG taz | Murat Akgül sits in a café in Nuremberg's Südstadt and puts a finger on his forehead. There, where the skin is still slightly reddened, a bump can be seen. The scar is his memory of Bosnia and the Balkan route. Akgül has been living in Nuremberg for 30 years, he grew up here, attended school here, did an apprenticeship, founded a family, freehold flat, four children. At the end of May the Kurd from the southeast of Turkey received an expulsion notice.

He was deported and Akgül fled. That is the story. Now he is sitting here, not far from his apartment, and is not allowed to spend the night there. He has to go back to the Donauwörth anchorage centre. He doesn't even seem angry, only tired. "Sometimes I think," says Murat Akgül, "they should just leave me alone."

When Akgül receives the letter with the deportation notice at the end of May, he has a settlement permit. At first he cannot believe that he is now to be deported to Turkey as a politically active Kurd. As reason the Verfassungsschutz lists 35 pages of "security law findings".

This means: Akgül took part in numerous demonstrations, meetings, rallies and celebrations of the Kurdish association Medya Volkshaus, which sometimes also receives PKK officials. Participants of these events called out forbidden slogans and showed forbidden symbols. At the same time, the Medya Volkshaus is a meeting place for Kurds in Nuremberg and regularly receives municipal cultural funding.

Akgül discusses the matter with his lawyer Peter Holzschuher, takes legal action against the decision and makes an urgent request to suspend the deportation until a decision on the complaint has been made. Both do not believe that he would actually be deported as the father of German children. The urgent application is rejected and Akgül files a complaint. No fewer than eight police officers had come to his home while the complaint was still being processed: They take him out of bed and put him in a van.

That same afternoon, Akgül lands in Istanbul. When the Turkish authorities find out that he has stood up for the Kurdish cause on demos in Germany, he is considered a terrorist here. Akgül invents a reason. Although the officials at the airport and at the Istanbul station had not believed him that he had been deported because of a brawl, the Turks still had no files on him, they let him go.

35 refugees sitting in a truck at 30 degrees Celsius

Akgül can dive, he sleeps with acquaintances, nowhere he stays longer than three days. Then back to Istanbul. "Last I found the tugs," he says, as if he were talking about a shell on the beach. How, found? "You'll find them. Akgül is to pay 6,500 euros so that he can be smuggled back to Germany. He was driven home by car. "Nothing they said was true." On the four weeks on the Balkan route, he says, he experienced hell, survived death.

The tugboats had directed a group of about 30 people over the telephone, called landmarks, which they were supposed to head for. Between Bosnia and Croatia they walked through primeval forests. Mothers and children walk with Akgül. They cross rivers and crawl through mud. His feet swell up, a branch bangs against his forehead. Two hours, it had been said, in the end they had been on the road for 15 hours. He still dreams of the forest today.

In Croatia, however, a truck is waiting to take them to Slovenia. At an outside temperature of 30 degrees, 35 refugees squeeze into the loading area. The loading space is not ventilated. People hammer against the walls until the driver stops. Akgül knows this news from the newspaper. He knows what it feels like to read about it, he says: "15 seconds of pity, then you've forgotten. Now he's one of them himself. What happened to his life? A stick, clamped in the fairing of the truck, finally ensures that some air gets inside.

In Slovenia, Akgül is picked up and registered by the police. In order not to be deported again directly, he had to apply for asylum. Then the authorities let him move on, after all, his children are in Germany. At the end of July Akgül is back in Franconia. Much poorer, a bump on his forehead, but otherwise everything could be as it was before. His employer, a cleaning company, has kept his job vacant. He wants to leave that behind like an evil dream

He is still in handcuffs at the reception facility in Zirndorf. During his deportation, he was banned from entering the country for ten years. He is to be deported again immediately, back to Turkey, where he faces a long prison sentence. "I thought they were fun. They want to frighten me." Through lawyer Yunus Ziyal, Akgül is now once again seeking asylum. He still has breakfast with his family, then he has to go to Donauwörth, Ankerzentrum. From now on he has to report to the police three times a week.

Hours of "security talks

It is not easy to reach the lawyer Ziyal. Two weeks pass, Akgül waits in Donauwörth for his recognition as a refugee, apparently. Ziyal is on the phone: "Something new has come up." The asylum application is inadmissible according to the Dublin decision, Akgül is to leave for Slovenia. On Friday, September 20, Ziyal files a complaint and files an urgent application against the decision, which is now before the Augsburg Administrative Court.

The action against the first deportation is still pending. Ziyal: "This is absurd - he has family, even German children here. The Dublin proceedings put the family unit first." He therefore considers the decision to be unlawful.

Akgül took part in many demos and festivals of the Kurdish association Medya VolkshausPhoto: Michael Trammer/imago images

Ziyal generally observes that politically active Kurds in Bavaria are currently more severely persecuted than a few years ago. The Kurds around the Medya Volkshaus would have to undergo hours of "security talks" again and again. The Bavarian Ministry of the Interior confirmed 29 expulsions in three years to the Nürnberger Nachrichten. The activities which the foreigners authority cites as the cause of the deportation are all completely legal: a demonstration against the IS, demonstrations for a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question, the New Year celebration ...

Murat Akgül is no longer an isolated case, but one that stands out: not only because of the children and the apartment, but also because of the relentlessness in the actions of the German authorities, which seem to adopt the definition of terrorism by President Erdoğan. An answer to the request of the taz for a statement both to the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees as well as to the Bavarian State Office for Asylum and Repatriation is pending.

At a demonstration in Nuremberg, Akgül carried a flag of the Kurdish militia YPG, according to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution. On the one hand, it is considered an armed arm of the PKK and was supported by the West, i.e. USA, France, on the other hand in the war against the IS. Akgül denies having such a flag, but also says: "Tens of thousands of Kurdish soldiers died in the war against the IS". The investigation in this matter - the only one against him - was discontinued.

MURAT AKGÜL, KURD

"I used to be afraid only in Turkey. Now also here"

Why now is the question that inevitably stands at the end of this story. Why is German state security so deliberately taking action against Kurds after years of calm? "I can only speculate," Ziyal sends in advance. But: "I know that the EU-Turkey refugee deal falls at this time, and I know that Erdoğan has accused Germany of supporting terrorists." The Federal Republic maintains many close economic relations with Turkey and is also active in police and judicial cooperation.

Akgül can reach each day a new good or bad message, a new answer, the dismissal of its complaint. Also his lawyer dares to formulate only hopes.

No matter where, his life will never be the same again as before his deportation. He has lived through the Balkan route and now knows what an anchorage centre feels like. He tells of poor hygienic conditions, rats in "herds" and the paralyzing boredom that drives the inhabitants into drug use. He complains most loudly not about it, but about the German bureaucracy, about the authorities that contradict each other, and about policemen who don't listen.

After the failed coup attempt in 2016, Murat Akgül no longer travelled to Turkey voluntarily. Especially now, during the war, the situation for a politically active Kurd in Turkey is all the more dramatic. "But here, I think, I live in a free, democratic country. Everyone has the right to demonstrate. I have always fought against oppression'. Of course he wants to stay here, of course he wants to go to demonstrations in the future. But: "I used to be afraid only in Turkey. Now also here.

NÜRNBERG - Four children, a condominium and a secure job: Murat Akgül's life in Germany seemed to stand on secure foundations. But then the father of the family was deported to Turkey. Back in Germany he had to apply for asylum - and no longer had a work permit.

"The police took me with them," wrote her husband Murat Akgül (35). The next sign of life of the fourfold father, who has lived in Nuremberg for 30 years, came from Turkey. The Kurd with a Turkish passport had been deported.

While Leyla Akgül was in shock and her husband's employer, a large cleaning company, missed his long-time employee, the man immediately disappeared in Turkey. His lawyer Yunus Ziyal says that this was also urgently recommended. Because the Turkish state pursues members of the Kurdish minority with full hardness. Murat Akgül, who has since returned illegally via the Balkan route under life-threatening conditions, says: "If I had been arrested, I would have had to reckon with 30 years' imprisonment.

Even critical Facebook comments are threatened with imprisonment in the country. There are also numerous investigations in Bavaria, including one against a cellist of the Munich Philharmonic who shared a contribution by Bayerischer Rundfunk on his Facebook account: he showed the YPG flag.

Increasing harshness

The state security also accuses the 35-year-old Nuremberg of waving this flag of the Kurdish organization YPG. He had participated in New Year celebrations, demos and festivals organized by the Kurdish association "Medya Volkshaus" in Südstadt. Hard to understand: Although the YPG is a military ally of the West in the fight against the "Islamic State", it is also considered an ally of the Kurdish PKK, which is banned in Germany. Akgül denies all accusations.

What his lawyer Ziyal describes as "absolutely common political commitment" led in his case to deportation. For even though the political conditions in Erdogan's state apparatus are being assessed more and more critically, the German state security is even pursuing alleged extremists with increasing severity. Upon request, the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior lists 29 cases of deportations with such reasons in the past three years, and the number is rising. The majority of those affected have left voluntarily, they say.

These four children have missed their father for three months: Mirza (10), Baran (1), Sarya (3) and Amara (13), the eldest, live with their parents in Nuremberg's Südstadt.© Photo: Private

"I'm a citizen, not a felon," says Akgül, defending himself against the accusations. Upon his arrival in Istanbul, he was immediately questioned by customs, the airport police and the police headquarters about the reasons for his deportation. Just because the German side had apparently not provided this information and he was silent, he was released for the time being - and submerged.

Four children between the ages of one and 13, a condominium in the Südstadt, a long-term settlement permit, a secure job. Murat Akgül's life in Germany seemed to stand on secure foundations until that morning in May. Now he must be glad that his boss is committed to him.

"A great guy

"He's done a great job, he's a great guy", is how Norbert Renner, technical director of the Rahmer company, describes his Turkish employee, whose job he's keeping free; this could be necessary for quite a while, because Murat Akgül had to apply for asylum in Zirndorf because he's threatened with persecution in Turkey - and thus no longer has a work permit.

He and his parents were granted asylum in Germany many years ago because of the threat of persecution in Turkey. But then the family renounced protection on the assumption that the peace process in the Kurdish conflict was on the right track. They finally wanted to visit relatives in Turkey. It came differently, the conflict escalated again, but the asylum status was lost.

The 35-year-old is back with his family, which missed him so much. Yet nothing is the same as before. Leyla Akgün says that her life has been put at zero from one day to the next and that her nightmare has not yet come to an end.

L'auto-organisation des réfugiés dans le Brandebourg

Wed, 10/30/2019 - 11:03

Refugee Assembly Brandenburg - Statement and Call of Refugee Selforganisation

Sat, 10/26/2019 - 22:59
Refugee Selforganisation in Brandenburg

(EN | DEUT | PERSICH

Statement and Call of Refugee Selforganisation in Brandenburg :
We, the exiled refugees and asylum-seekers living in Doberlug-Kirchhain Red Cross refugee camp, have fled war, destruction, dictatorship and economic difficulties in our homelands and asked for asylum in Germany. But our life has become more complicated in Germany since BAMF claims ultimate control over the asylum-seekers’ life and limits all sorts of movement.

Furthermore, after the EU and Germany pushed for more military supervision of the borders and after signing agreements with Turkey and Greece to limit the freedom of movement of individuals, now, there is this new law in order by the German BAMF which dictates that all asylum-seekers to Germany who are sanctioned because of being fingerprinted in another EU state should now stay 18 months in the camps before German government picks up their case. This period was 6 months for refugees that had asked for asylum before August 1, 2019 and is by many standards radical and overwhelming. The psychological life of the members of the refugee camps simply cannot bear 18 months in isolation under horrible economic conditions.

We don’t have the right to live freely in our own countries and this suppression usually comes with unlawful international interventions. The creators of much of the chaos in our countries are now providing marginal countries of EU with advanced military equipment to control and further limit the movement between borders. Therefore we consider our right to object to be our natural and fundamental right and we keep contact with the residents of this camp as well as other camps in and out of Brandenburg state to further pursue our demands.

We call our sisters and brothers to join our call and fight with us for the following demands:

1. Lifting the militarization of the borders and opening the borders of the EU,
2. Stopping involuntary deportations out of Germany,
3. Lifting the 18 months waiting time for the asylum-seekers with a Dublin case,
4. Freedom of movement between cities, states and countries within the EU, and
5. Stopping the criminalization of sea rescue and solidarity with refugees.

Breaking the Culture of Deportation - Deportation is the last ring of the slavery chain | RefugeeBlackBox - Solidarity (Initiated in 2017)

We invite everybody to join our fight with refugees and migrants for freedom and justice. We want to oppose the culture of deportation with our solidarity because deportations are the last ring of the slavery chain. They violate our human rights and threaten our existence!

Each Deportation stop pulls down the mask that covers the human face!

The fight against deportation has always been in the center of TheVOICE‘s political activism. Fighting deportation means fighting against nationalism, white supremacy and the colonial racist injustice!

Capitalism has made us blind to the colonial injustice of European racism. We call for our political and financial autonomy in our fight to develop and empower our demands for the next generations.

Background:
RefugeeBlackBox activism: We will be organizing with refugee activists to shake things up in our fights against the inhuman injustice of deportations.

We are united not only against deportation but also against all kinds of social exclusion. With the RefugeeBlackBox we express our solidarity and our unity. The RefugeeBlackBox – Solidarity-Campaign was initiated in 2017 and is in the continuity of the engagement under the motto „Break the Culture of Deportation“ which was initiated on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of The VOICE in 2014.

From 3rd till 6th of October, 2019, we held a nation-wide meeting in preparation of the celebration of "25th Anniversary The VOICE " and with RefugeeBlackBox Installation in Jena. It was a successful reunion which consolidated marks for the RefugeeBlackBox foundation, more than 60 participants signed for a high level of refugee mobilization. The meeting was also a hopeful step for refugee community self-organization.

With this background, we want to work towards a successful preparation for the anniversary celebrations and the RefugeeBlackBox Agenda which will take place on 6th and 7th December. More detailed discussions on the organization have to follow.

There will be info events as part of the preparations and mobilization of the anniversary. RBB installations will be presented in other refugee cities and towns.

About the Festival in December:
The revolution in us: The main task of the "Festival" will be the focus on the development of The VOICE and her testimony in the refugees' struggles against the injustice on refugees in Germany in the last 25 years with a line-up for 5 live concerts. There will be a presentation on The VOICE refugee Grassroots activism and movements by friends and activists in the networks

There will also be RBB installations, performances and Profile live art exhibitions.

Why do we celebrate? What we have done to make The VOICE a pioneering revolutionary movement:

The VOICE Refugee Forum will be celebrating 25years of self-organized, self-empowered and tireless refugee activism in Germany. Our consistent message of justice, freedom of movement, solidarity and breaking the deportation chain in Germany has been an inspiration to many other refugee groups for the last two decades. We want to celebrate our continuity to further inspire and strengthen the refugee community organizing for the years ahead.

25 years of The VOICE Refugee Forum's Silver Jubilee Anniversary Festival in Jena are all it takes to strengthen the existence of our presence in human dignity.

Many actions of refugees' struggles might have been publicized but "the revolution of the refugee struggles was not televised to the world". The powerful impact of refugees on political changes in Germany has always been ignored or polarized. But it was our struggle that leads to the closure of many isolated camps, that lead to the abolishment of residential obligation, that prevented hundreds of deportation. Today, it is all about the refugees. Before now, we saw the brutality of the migration crisis coming, we warned and campaigned, we called on many many activists to join us in fighting against the deportation crimes. We have a chance, today, we can keep our oppressors under control, together we are acting.

Our fight together with refugees for freedom and justice:

- 25 years of struggle against deportation, social isolation, refugee lager, deportation prison, criminalization, residenzpflicht - restriction of refugee free movement, police brutality, family separation, political prisoners and colonial injustice
- 25 years of impact on the political culture in Germany
- 25 years of exile political activism, self-organization, solidarity, refugee autonomy, community engagement and structural organization, activism, events, camps, manifestations, protest and fight for freedom of movement, campaigns for refugee political autonomy and self-determined organization
- Many, many years of common struggle with the Caravan for the Rights of Refugees and Migrants
- The creation of the RefugeeBlackBox as the heritage of the struggle of The VOICE Refugee Forum and the Caravan for the Rights of Refugees and Migrants
or more

We are celebrating 25 years of self/organization, self-engagement, self-empowerment! Our guidelines are community and solidarity!

Solidarity is our weapon and also our protection from oppression: it is strictly political.

Prospect on the Preparatory Process till December and Proposals:

We are planning support network meetings in Jena for the preparatory plans of 25th The VOICE Silver Jubilee Anniversary Festival in Jena. The RefugeeBlackBox community in Brandenburg, Jena, Gotha and Waltershausen with delegates of the refugee communities and camps in Thueringen will be hosting the anniversary in Jena.

This event will be powered by the RefugeeBlackBox network of Hamburg, Wuppertal and Brandenburg, Berlin and Thueringen.

There will be RefugeeBlackBox Solidarity installations and performances which are being planned in Thuringen and in Brandenburg.

We are inviting you to share your support plans for installations, information events and mobilization taking place in your localities with us. We would like to know if you have planned events in November for coordinated activities to support the 25th TheVOICE Anniversary in Jena, 6th/7th December 2019.

We need creative inputs and practical contributions to 25th The VOICE Refugee Forum's Silver Jubilee on the self-determined organization of refugees‘ political resistance beyond the courts and in civil disobedience of refugees against the crimes of deportations in Germany

Make your box and bring your refugeeblackbox to Jena. We can provide information brochures and stickers for solidarity installation and cultural performance in Germany for your local events: The RefugeeBlackBox is a simple tool of expression in our networks, refugees can paint their boxes black and write their slogans or statements on the black boxes and speak about your issues, texts, photos and videos, as well as interviews are welcome.

We will be proud to receive from you printed texts or photos of The VOICE Refugee Forum activities you may be having to bring to us as a contribution to our text and photo pool of The VOICE history and RBB installations

Forms of actions from the different locations and networks will be published online and we can coordinate events by standard internet live video conference on refugeeblackbox installations activities in the refugee camps and public protests of our networks with the others.

The next 25 years are not far from us as we fight for a new order of solidarity with refugees. - We are moving on and will continue! We are in the making of our future „RefugeeBlackBox Installation tour“ on refugee strikes and protest against the injustice and the crimes of deportation in Germany

Again and again, we call for your support and contribution:

We need donations!

Defend the RefugeeBlackBox solidarity!

Dear friends, Activists and Sympathizers, please take note and help to support the transportation cost and mobilization of refugees from your localities and beyond to Jena!

Nationwide refugees and Migrants community delegates will be participating in the celebration with us and in our struggles against deportation crimes and the colonial injustice during the 25th year of The VOICE Refugee Forum on 6th and 7th of December 2019 in Jena

RefugeeBlackBox – Solidarity Installation initiated 2017 in Jena

Break the Deportation DNA Chain: "RefugeeBlackBox – The irrepressible voice and power of the afflicted" - Beyond the Courtrooms!

Break Deportation - Refugee Black Box Parade:

Nationwide activists of the Refugee-Migrant Community Network together with Anti deportation activists presented and discussed the RefugeeBlackBox agenda and planned for the "Stop deportation" city parade with performance, Installations and discussion on the " Refugee Black Box – The irrepressible voice and power of the afflicted" which took place on the 27/28.01.2017 in Jena

Our main focus of discussion was breaking the deportation chain from within; with discussions on strategies of Break Deportation Acts: Our historical backgrounds and past political struggles against deportation and social exclusion were a guide to our continued engagement for justice and human dignity.

We discussed how we, the refugee-migrant community activists in Germany overcome the different faces of injustice in Europe,
our experiences, the struggles and campaigns of the refugee community against the deportation cultures of the German and European racist nationalism, against social exclusion in Germany. About how we fight against the abuse and violation of our rights, the corruption of the deportation system, societal ignorance including German elites and politicians vis-à-vis human dignity and freedom of movement.

Continuation of the discussions and perspectives on the way forward

"Refugee Black Box – The irrepressible voice and power of the afflicted" is a political experiment and a process to re-create our alternative space and critical enlightenment, through the Refugee Political Solidarity X-Ray on the decades of refugee struggles against the centuries of colonial injustice of deportation.

The concept is a process of inspirations from the refugee struggles

Refugee Black Box actions are planned to expose the ignorance of the society on the abuses and crimes of deportation regimes and to make the colonial injustices of the system visible.

Like Marcus Garvey said, “Never forget that intelligence rules the world and ignorance carries the burden. Therefore, remove yourself as far as possible from ignorance and seek as far as possible to be intelligent”.

Like in a tribunal, it is about charging the system and giving a platform to the afflicted to bring their own charges to public awareness. In addition, it has elements of a festival with its cultural space. The idea parodies the black boxes of air-crafts. It contains sensitive information that is vital to its functionality. The afflicted can submit their charges and these would form the basis of the next protest actions against the pervasive colonial injustice.

Refugees, migrants and anti-deportation activists joined us in the 2017 grassroots struggles of the refugees' community movement, to make “Refugee Black Box – The irrepressible voice and power of the afflicted" a concrete and empowering political solidarity weapon."

"By coming together, we will continue to learn from each other, develop our strength by continued self-empowerment to break the deportation culture and to overcome the different faces of injustice in Europe. Most of us are victims of war. Some of us lost our families; many of us are separated from their children, wives and husbands, while a countless number of us died on the journey to Europe under the watchful eyes of FRONTEX. As a result, many of us remain traumatized today. Yet, instead of being given the necessary therapeutic and other support, we are discriminated against, subjected to brutal and greedy exploitation and exclusion, various forms of psychological torture and expected to gratefully accept our unspoken label of subhuman or „Untermensch“ in the name of refugees because we don‘t have bombs raining on us."

Deportation and its corruption of legal systems and regimes are criminal. Stop the deportation system! Fight racist nationalism!
Let's shake things up! - Bring down the deportation regimes! Stop deportations!!!

Refugee Black Box PREPARATORY Agenda

"If you've come to help me, you're wasting your time. But if you've come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together." by Lila Watson, Aboriginal educator and activist, Australia.

Who supports or Helps whom? Concrete solidarity is a way of life – beyond humanitarian helpers' activism.

Our community is our defense: Political self-organization without the perspectives of the community of the affected often result to slogans to entertain the mainstream media only, without continuity.
The community makes the difference, use it.
It is worldwide solidarity!

Discussion & Workshops on inputs on „Refugee Black Box“ and Testimonies
The BLACK BOX is an attempt to re-define our struggles and resistance as we go forward in strengthening the grassroots perspectives for concrete solidarity with the oppressed and against the oppressors. RefugeeBlackBox actions are planned to expose the ignorance of the society on the abuses and crimes of deportation regimes and to make the colonial injustices of the system visible. Like in a tribunal, it is about charging the system and giving a platform to the afflicted to bring their own charges to public awareness.

Topics to be reflected:
What is connected to deportation and why? - Do you have any experience with deportation? What was the biggest pain or crime you felt? Where are the roots of deportation? Which forms of oppression you feel are there to prepare and execute deportation? Who are the ones profiting from the deportation? - Who are the accomplices of the deportation? What is the reason or intention of deportation? - How does deportation undermine the natural right of any human being? - What is our natural right? - Who has any natural right to living in this world? and basically to whom does this world belong to? - Why do you have to leave your country? How is the departure from your home, the place you were born and lived connected to deportation back to the same place?

We are going to make our resistance against the german deportation regime visible and we will give voice to one of our main topics: We are fighting for an unconditional right to stay for everyone! Stop deportation now!

The idea of the „parade“: take it to the streets as a powerful, creative and colorful demonstration with music and dancing, shouting, performance interventions, samba-percussion and more.

Our voices are irrepressible: Break the culture of deportation!

Re-counting our experiences. - How do we work together? How do we build our communities? What is new and what do we expect in the continuity of our struggles against deportation with the refugees, for the refugees and by the refugees – Analysing our self-critical evaluation, strategies and contributions on the way forward.
There were cultural Program and Solidarity Live Concerts and Installation performance Conclusions, results and perspectives: No compromise with deportation.

The Voice Refugee Forum: A Network of Refugee Community Initiatives in Germany
The VOICE Refugee Forum is an independent network of political refugee activists. Founded in 1994 in a former camp in Mühlhausen in Thüringen as exile organization (The VOICE Africa Forum), The VOICE nowadays supports and promotes the empowerment of refugees and the self-organization of refugee groups nationwide.
The VOICE Refugee Forum in its history has run various public protests and campaigns for freedom of political prisoners in our home countries, against environmental degradation and exploitation by Western multinational corporations.
We have been organizing in protest against criminalization, racial profiling, police brutality (campaign for Oury Jalloh), discriminatory laws and social exclusion and we defend ourselves against institutional and societal racism.

Central to our political activity has always been the protest against deportation, for the abolition of Residenzpflicht and for the closure of refugee isolation camps in Germany. Our forms of action include protest rallies, vigils, demonstrations, internet activism and public events as the Caravan nationwide tours 1998 – 2007, the Caravan Refugee Congress 2000, the Caravan Festival on Colonial Injustice 2010 (both in Jena) and the Caravan Break Isolation - Refugee Camp 2012 (Erfurt) - examples which also show the close cooperation of The VOICE with the network of the Caravan for the Rights of Refugees and Migrants

Our main goals remain the struggle for equality, justice and human dignity for every refugee in Germany. With a strong affirmation that “We are here because you destroy our countries” we seek to collaborate with groups and initiatives on the basis of solidarity and justice, and we reject any form of paternalism, co-optation and continued colonial injustice. Our emphasis is rooted in the principles of grassroots mobilization and empowerment and inbuilding refugee political communities and networks. We remain opposed to the deadly migration politics by the European and other Western powers, and their brutal border regime and racist practices of oppression and exploitation. Therefore our work is always located in the context of resistance against colonial injustice. http://www.thevoiceforum.org/

The VOICE Refugee Forum – A Network of Refugee Community Initiatives in Germany:
Our goal is aimed to support and organized under principles of self-organization of refugees and their Communities against the Apartheid in isolation camps and ‘Lager’ and to empower the political Networks and struggles in the camps.

The self-determination of the refugees to liberate themselves from institutional racism and discrimination is clearly defined; in order to form a united block against suicidal acts and traumas in Isolation lagers.

We demand solidarity and protest against the collective punishments through the racist persecution of refugees in Germany.

We demand the abolition of the Residence Obligation (Residenzpflicht) and the segregation of refugees in ‘Lager’ and camps and Deportation prisons. We stand for Freedom of movement for all, Stop deportation and all discriminatory laws against refugees. We are united against any form of colonial injustice and social exclusion of refugees and people without rights in Germany.

"We will promote our engagements to empower networking and Campaigns for Refugees Community unity and mobilize to represent our own VOICES”
