Thanks to all the effords during the struggle of the 'International campaign against dictatorship in Togo and other African countries' after the recent meeting of officials with "experts" who all clearly condemned any deportation to this dictatorship the government of the German state of Mecklenburg Vorpommern was forced to stop deportations to Togo for 6 months!

But this does not mean, there was time to relax. All other sttes continue their deportation practice. We have to continue the struggle for deportation stop in the whole country.

We mourn for Laye-Alama Condé, who has died a year ago, on the 7th of January 2005, as a result of the forced administration of emetic by the police.
Late on the evening of 26th December, 2004 Laye-Alama Condé from Sierra Leone, who had been living in Bremen for years, was arrested by two civil police commando and brought to the police station Vahr on suspicion of having drugs on him. There, Laye-Alama Condé was forcibly tied to a metal examination stretcher by the two policemen (both feet fixed with cable tie, his left hand fixed with handcuffs on the examination stretcher.)

Nous portons le deuil de Laye-Alama Condé qui est mort il y a une année, le 7 janvier 2005, par le recours à la torture de vomitifs par la police.
Laye-Alama Condé de Sierra Leone, qui vivait ici à Bremen depuis des années, a été arrêté le soir du 26-11-04 sous soupçon de trafic de drogues par deux policiers en civil qui lui ont transféré au poste de police à Bremen-Vahr. Arrivés là-bas, les deux policiers lui ont attaché de force à une chaise longue de métal (les deux pieds et la main gauche fixés avec des menottes).

Ahmed Saado bleibt vorerst in Abschiebehaft in Hannover Langenhagen. Das Ergebnis des Haftpruefungstermins heute morgen steht allerdings aus. Bis die Richter die fuer die naechsten Tage angekuendigte Entscheidung faellen, bleibt Ahmed in Abschiebehaft.

Waehrend des Haftpruefungstermins hat Ahmed Saado verkuendet, dass er ab heute in den Hungerstreik geht - aus Protest und als Kampf gegen die moeglicherweise bevorstehende Abschiebung in die Tuerkei.

Vor einem halben Jahr verbrannte Oury Jallow in einer Polizeizelle von Dessau in Sachsen-Anhalt. Sein Tod und die weiteren Ereignisse seit dem 7. Januar geben eine Ahnung davon, was hinter den Mauern der Polizei und denen des Schweigens normal und alltäglich ist. Für uns und alle, die diese Normalität, ihre Gesetze und ihre Täter genau kennen und täglich erleben.

Oury Jallow was burned to death six months ago in a jail cell in Dessau, Sachsen-Anhalt. For all of us who have experienced first hand this normality, these laws and these victimizers, the death of Oury Jallow and the subsequent developments make clear what really happened behind the police walls—and behind the walls of those whose silence is both customary and invariable.
