After the successful demonstration in Rathenow that
brought out a large population composed of Africans
asylum seekers and migrants, other asylum seekers,
German supporters, students and pupils from the
schools of the children of Awa Marie and their
lecturers and teachers, the media made a report that
influenced the Härtefall Commission members to the
extend that her case had a positive result.
She has been voted to obtain a residence permit with
her four children. That means that she is no more
under any deportation threat. The case is now on the
desk of the minister of interior of the state of
Brandenburg for the last word.

On the 4th of April 2007 Awa Marie Ndemu from Cameroon and her four children will be deported from Germany from the city of Rathenow in the state of Brandenburg. This deportation is portraying the German racist tradition of not wanting asylum seekers and other migrants in this country. Awa Marie entered Germany on the 17th of September 2001 while fleeing from Cameroon because her life was in danger. Still apprehended by the danger which made her to flee from the country, the Rathenow officials have vehemently decided to put their racist machinery of deportation in motion. They do not border on what will happen to her when she is back in her country of origin.
The children of Awa Marie have written a letter of appeal to the chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, the German president Mr. Köhler, the governor of the state of Brandenburg, Mr. Platzeck, the Minister of the interior in the state of Brandenburg, Mr. Schönbohm, the divisional officer of Havelland Mr. Schröder and the mayor of the city of Rathenow Ronald Seeger. In the letter of appeal, the children are asking the above mentioned officials to use their good offices to stop their deportation.
Two of the children are in the 9th class, one in the 6th class and the very last one who was born in Germany is in Kindergarten. If these children are deported, they will be separated from their father who is having a resident permit in Germany. These children are demanding for a non separation from their father which, if not applied, will lead to psychological and other forms of torture. This will lead to an abuse of the Convention of the Rights of the Child. In Germany, the role of parents is very important to the upbringing of their children. This should be applied to children of asylum seekers and other migrants as well.
The Flüchtlingsinitiative Brandenburg is calling for the Rathenow authorities to stop the deportation of Awa Marie and her children. We are inviting each individuals, groups and organisations to join us on the 15th of March at 4 p.m. at the Rathenow train station to demonstrate against the deportation of this family.
Deportation is an abuse of human rights!! Deportation is a racist act!! Deportation should be abolished!! Stop the Deportation of Awa Marie and her Children!!
