A group of women guerrillas in the mountains of Kurdistan sent a letter to the women in Turkey and Kurdistan on the prompting 8th of March.
''We are Kurdish women guerillas who are struggling for freedom in the magnificent mountains of Kurdistan for 20 years. And we celebrate 8 March in these magnificent mountains for years. We wanted to build up a womanly tie, ties of love with you, the precious women, who are living in different parts of the world, in different times, by different occasions. Sometimes, with a small message, sometimes with a friendly greeting, sometimes with our social agreement… Sometimes, we feel you with your friendly voice, which was joined to the voice of a Kurdish woman in a march. Sometimes we reach you as well, disunities come between us, because of our conditions.
We wanted to come with our womanly voices of our hearts in this 8 March. Despite mountains, distances, borders, manly laws, if the women want, they can remove all the obstacles and they can bring their hearts together and they can collectivize their energy. We wanted to greet all women at least with one letter. We wanted to send a invitation card to you for our 8 March celebration in these wild, but also magnificent mountains. We wanted to sing
folksongs with you, in this free atmosphere of the mountains, on the channel of main goddess, in this magnificent ambience, in which blue and stars reflect luxuriantly, liberally, in the embrace of stars. We wanted to play folk dances together… and we cry our pains together and feel proud our successes together. We look to our eyes and we give hope and more powerful organization decisiveness to each other together. But unfortunately, the borders that we don't decide, seperate ourselves, as women. Because of this, we wanted to talk on 8th of March in 2006 with the language of heart, which does not recognize any border.
Lets come and heed our hearts voice. Here nature is preparing to spring and new borns. Our hearts are enthusing and on the other hand, we write this letter feeling the tragedies and pains of women. And our leadership Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, who has got precious additions to the freedom struggle of Kurdish women, is in Imrali island for 7 years in hard isolation conditions, and struggling for his life alone. He is resisting in the name of a people, in the name of all human values and most also in the name of peace. A few days ago 24 peace mother, each ones hearts burned with the pains of their children for at least one time, arrested in Diyarbakir, because they said to Turkish Government that; 'Peace will come! There will be peace, there is no other way', and they made a civilian disobedience action for their belief. There is pain in our hearts. Because the steps that we took and our efforts for the final of this war and for coming peace for 20 years, unfortunately couldn't destroy the satist mentality up to present. Peace is still wanted to taken in a place which is very far from our land, our people and our lives. Our hearts are bleeding… Because the frightening numbers of women suicides and custom murders in a lot of parts of Kurdistan, especially in Batman, in Iran Kurdistan and in Iraq part, that is in the geographies in which Kurds leave, don't stop.
Our hearts are hurting…Because the region just near us is bleeding every day. The women and children from Iraq, loose their lives. Men gods are always playing new games, for not to arise the peace sun to Middle-East. Our hearts are not limited with only our geography, don't beating only here, don't feel only here. You, precious women also know that, woman heart understand the pains, the laughs and tragedies of a people is more deepness. The heart of woman is international. The feeling of women about feeling each other and pains of people are also international. Because of this, we see and feel all the pains and tragedies of women in these hard conditions in the mountains. We feel pain. Women, young girls, who are in the age of children, are being employed like a cheap manpower, like a slave. The sex workmanship, sexual wildness which reach even to children, the profit world, which markets the woman body, the individual diseases of the Western World, which are estranging humans to each other, the reactionisms of Eastern World, which deny the persons, wanted to bring the normal part of daily life too, but they are the bleeding common pains of us. We know that, the solutions of our common problems are common. The mans world which is going mad is murdering the women and children every day. The violence and sexual exploitations of women don't recognize west or east. If the desecration, beating and sexual exploitation are said, all the men are from same continent, same race and same religion. And the things that must unify ourselves are that this violence beats us without race, continent, religion and geography. To meet with violence, which is exuded to every part of our lives, in the names of different covers, in politics, laws, social areas and in every place. The bodies and spirits, which are being exhausted with customs, the glutton habits of men world, wars, hungers, verties, unemployment, unhealthy conditions and diseases feel pain to all of us.
We consider to struggle with these pains as a meaning of being woman, being present, being mother. We are happy and proud, because we organize our lives for a such target. And we want to share this opinion with this 8 March letter to you and we want to make bridge for our common studies. We take place in the studies of theoretical, political, social, literature, culture, art, press, women army, civil society, law, ecology and peace like women. And want to discuss with you in all these studies, the opinions and collective feels, leaving the shares and what we can do for stopping or decreasing the tragedy and pains of women on the prompting of this 8 March.
Let’s come and create a world which meets the real compact with us, the creators of life. Let’s give tongue to the same songs and same melodies which explain the pains and joys of us, as if our languages are different. And lets come, we beautify this world again, by overfilling the main goddess to nowadays...
