PRESS RELEASE
HUNGER STRIKE IN THE DEPORTATION CENTRE EISENHÜTTENSTADT (Brandenburg)
On Saturday 29 April 2006 I began a hunger strike in the deportation centre of Eisenhüttenstadt. My name is Collivan Nso, I was born in Camerun and I have been in the Republic of Germany for three years.
The day before, on Friday 28 April 2006, I was arrested in Eisenhüttenstadt, sentenced to jail and brought inmediately aterwards brought to the deportation centre of Eisenhüttenstadt. I had come with my lawyer to the local representation of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BMF). The Federal Office had officially requested me to come to Eisenhüttenstadt in order to discuss my second application to be granted asylum. But inmediately after the interview I was arrested, brought to court and as a result sentenced to 3 months jail in a deportation centre.
Obviously, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees had informed the Immigration Office in Oranienburg of my presence in Eisenhüttenstadt and the latter had required the presence of the police.
The decision to go on hunger strike was taken after due reflexion as a consequence of being arrested in Einsenhüttenstadt. The resons for this action is twofold:
1) The conspiracy instigated against me by the Immigration Office in Oranienburg:
Though the Immigration Office in Oranienburg had given me – in writing – insurances that they would not do so, they did in fact pass on confidential documents about me to the Embassy of Cameroon in Bonn. These documents are about my affiliation to the Southern Cameroonian Youth League, which is a party which is persecuted by the Cameroonian government. The SCYL works for the independence of Southern Cameroons and the end of the bloody oppression and persecution.
The Immigration Office’s refusial to hand over my documents after I made the second application for asylum, though they ought to have done so, clearly showed that they wanted to push me into illegality.
2) The violation of the confidence committed by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees:
Thought the Office for Migration and Refugees has the duty to protect me, they have informed the Immigration Office in Oranienburg about my presence in Eisenhüttenstadt.
These are the reason why I demand following:
- my inmediate release from the deportation centre;
- the Immigration Office shall regularize my stay;
- the Immigration office should apologize to me for violating my fundamental rights and for the attempt that they have made to push me in the illegality;
- the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees should apologize to me for negligence of the duty that they have to protect me.
