It is claimed Yasin Aka named prisoner was beaten when he was dispatched to
Kurkculer F Type Prison from Mersin E Type and he was tortured naked in the
prison. Upon application of Father Osman Aka who compares those run in
prison to tortures made in Guantanamo , Human Rights Association Adana
Branch announced it will make crime report to Chief Prosecutor Office and
Justice Ministry.
Father of Yasin Aka (19) and Nizar Aka who are held in Kurkculer F Type
Prison, Osman Aka (52), claimed Kurkculer F Type Prison guardians had made
torture on his son Yasin Aka and threatened his other son Nizar with death.
Stating he went to see children in Kurkculer Prison on 7 June, father Aka,
said '' They brought Yasin to Adana on 1 June from Mersin. Detainess were
being beaten awfully on road. This tortures going on during the journey,
later they had been waited for 7 hours in a place we don't know though they
should be brought to prison. Prisoners run danger of drowning because of
airlessness. One prisoner passes out because of airlessness. They were being
taken to Kurkculer Prison after 7 hours.''
' They stripped us to the skin and made torture on us'
Father Aka claimed his son was stripped to the skin in front of the cell and
beaten by guardians, saying his son Yasin was taken into a single cell.
Stating his son was subjected to beatings for a long time, Aka, told '' They
left my son in the cell after he got exhausted. When I went to visit him,
there were still traces of beatings in his face and throat although one week
passed over. They did not take him to infirmary so he could not have taken
report. But he said he had made crime report to Adana Chief prosecutor
Office. He also said he had psychological problems becuse of torture he
underwent.''
Those run in the prison are similar to Guantanamo...
Suggesting his other son Nizar held in Kurkculer F Type Prison also
threatened with death by guardians, father Aka, said guradians came and said
him either you are returning from your cause or die. I had talked with
guardians in the visit day but they laughed and said there is no such a
thing. They talked in a threatening way. When I said I will be complainant
about them, they said ' you can complain to whoever you want.' They could
not intimidate us with such oppressions. We already know those going on in
the prisons, but I want to express there is more pressure on detainees than
other prisons. Those running here are similar to those run in Guantanamo
Prison. Here there is a special exercise.''
Father Aka has applied to IHD Adana Branch for oppressions his children were
subjected. Managers of the IHD said they will make crime report to Chief
Prosecutor Office and Justice Ministry.
Cell and petition penalty
According to information obtained by associates of prisoners in Kurkculer
detainees who were brought to prison on 19 May were held in single cabin and
banned to give petition for 2 months. Associates which state guardians are
always making pressures on prisoners to have them gone to independent wards,
said they were said those detainees who don't accept will be kept always in
single cabins.
