Beyoglu 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance decided on collecting back
Ozgur Gundem in the Country Newspaper that dealt with the PKK militant Abbas
Emani that was captured alive and then burned, with photos in the issue on
28th June 2006.
The issue on 28th June 2006 of Ozgur Gundem in the Country Newspaper dealing
with the PKK militant Abbas Emani that was captured alive and then murdered
in Besiri in Batman, was decided to be confiscated back by Beyoglu 2nd
Criminal Court of First Instance. The reason for the confiscation was
reported to be as follows:
"The issue on 28.6.2006 of Ozgur Gundem in the Country Newspaper gave the
caption of 'Humanity is Burned' on a piece of news and according to the 6/1
term of TMK (Law of Fight against Terror) showed that the security forces
were shown as a target. It was decided that the 850th issue of the paper on
28.6.2006 were to be collected according to the demand."
'The murder was confirmed'
The newspaper administration that made an explanation about the matter said
that the murder was confirmed with the verdict of the court. In the
explanation, it was said:
"The decision given about our newspaper when we made a call to the public
prosecutor for the violence in Besiri in the meantime confirmed that the
murder was committed by the hands of state once more, and that the murder in
question was shown to be the work of the security forces."
