Belgium : refugees on hunger strike hospitalised

Currently 20 churches are being occupied in all of Belgium, in several different locations. Dozens of immigrants are on hunger strike. The people participating in the sit-ins are estimated to thousands. Their demand is regularisation of all sans-papiers on the basis of clear and permanent criteria, which is obstinately denied by the minister in charge Patrick deWaele. DeWaele rejected any responsibility for whatever will happen to the hunger strikers and denounced church and university officials and groups for supporting them, because this way "they are taking a political postion" (!! - as if it were a crime to "take a political postion").

First Died Oury Jalloh - Now Mouctar Bah's Telecafé Is To Be Closed.

Bilingual Press Release for download, download arabic
Oury Jalloh, died in a police station in Dessau—tied at his hands and feet. Since his death on the 7th of January, 2005, our demands of truth, justice, and compensation have cynically been met with cover-up, injustice, and impunity. As if that wasn’t enough, now one of the few people who have been engaged in the struggle for the truth about Oury Jalloh’s death, Mouctar Bah, a friend of Oury and the representative of his family in Germany, is being criminalized. Those who were involved in Oury Jalloh’s death are not.
