Press Release: Initiative in Memory of Oury Jallow, Berlin/Dessau 06-14-2005

Different Initiatives Denounce Daily State-Based Racism and the Targeted Harassment Against Mouctar Bah in Dessau

Oury Jallow was burned to death six months ago in a jail cell in Dessau, Sachsen-Anhalt. For all of us who have experienced first hand this normality, these laws and these victimizers, the death of Oury Jallow and the subsequent developments make clear what really happened behind the police walls—and behind the walls of those whose silence is both customary and invariable.

Dear Sirs and Madams,
dear friends,

Today we received word that the court has announced Esmail Mohammadis execution within the next five days.

We would like to ask you again to do anything you might in order to build up public pressure against the death sentence.

Sunny is free!

Yesterday morning, Tue 21st of December Sunny was released from the prison. Officially it was a so called Christmas Amnesty, but we are very sure that it was connected with the rising public pressure and the planned demonstration as they wanted to show that they were not as bad as we claim. The authorities even tried to persuade us to stop the rally in front of the prison. But we still made our demonstration and the rally in front of the prison, just that we had one participant more - Sunny. The struggle against residenzpflicht is now coming to a new stage...
